Camera club visits raptor center

Thirteen members of the Buckhannon Upshur Camera Club visited the West Virginia Raptor Rehabilitation Center in Fairmont on Saturday June 16. It was a pleasure to be able to photograph several birds of raptor that are currently being rehabilitated at the center after injuries. Susanne Coulson, director of education, shared information with the members about the mission of the center and specifics about some of the birds that are in their care.

Cameras in hand, members could take photos of a bald eagle, an owl, a red-tailed and red-shouldered hawk, and a swallowtail kite along with other raptors.

The BUCC is pleased to be able to support the WVRCC in their rehabilitation efforts and were glad to be able to provide a $200 donation to their cause.

The camera aficionados traveled next to Valley Falls State Park and enjoyed the beautiful weather and water scenes. The Buckhannon Upshur Camera Club meets the fourth Thursday of the month at the Upshur County Senior Center at 7pm. New members are always welcomed.
