MORGANTOWN – It was a historic night for Buckhannon-Upshur senior Miranda Greene when her Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Bucs met Morgantown Wednesday night.
Greene tallied her 200th goal of her career as she helped the Lady Bucs down Morgantown by a 17-7 score.
The Lady Bucs doubled up Morgantown in the first half taking an 8-4 lead at the intermission.
Buckhannon-Upshur dominated the second half taking it by a 9-3 score for the 10-goal win.
“The girls played hard the whole game and they work well together,” said Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jamie Greene. “They kept the pressure on Morgantown the whole night. When Morgantown did score on us we didn’t let down they went right back at them and scored. We still need to clean up some of our fundamentals but this was a very good team win.”
Kendall Defibaugh led the B-U offense with six goals while Greene and Hannah Walton added three. Gaidian Adams and Kierra Arbogast each had two goals and Kaylee O’Connor added one.
“When you have this many girls scoring it really sets up the offense,” noted Greene. “The defense played hard the whole game and helped set up the offense.”
Haylea Crihfield played all 50 minutes in the net for the Lady Bucs making eight saves.
The win lifted the Lady Bucs to 4-0 on the year.
The Lady Bucs were slated to play George Washington Thursday and play St. Albans on Friday.
They will host John Marshall at 1 p.m. and Capital at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
