Lucy Jane Wodzinski

Lucy Jane Wodzinski, 79, of Buckhannon, WV, died Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.

She was born March 7, 1942, in Welch, WV, a daughter of the late Floyd Mattingly and Gladys Gaines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Floyd “Jessie” Moore.

She is survived by her significant other, David Hilderbrand of Buckhannon; two sons, Rick Leigh and wife Joan of VA and Earnest “Lee” McFarlin and wife Ruth of Buckhannon; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Newbrough and husband Rick of OH; one foster son, Robert “Bobby” Keslar of Buckhannon; four grandsons, Jeremy Clark, Darren McFarlin and wife Christina, Trystan McFarlin and wife Holly Olivia and Robert Leigh; three granddaughters, Miranda Queen and husband Patrick, Santanna Wolford and April Martin and husband James; five great-grandsons, Jeremiah Clark, Nicholas Miller, James Martin, IV, Liam Robert Martin and Xander Queen; four great-granddaughters, Alona Key, Phoebe Elisabet Martin, Alexis Queen and Adrianna Queen and one sister, Naomi Mattingly of OH.

Mrs. Wodzinski was a CNA who was a well-care giver, activities director and a social behavior specialist. Her heart was open to everyone and she always saw the good in every person she met. She had an unconditional love for everyone and enjoyed crafts, sewing, dress making, flowers and her pets. Lucy was loved by all and will be kept in our hearts.

Friends will be received for a memorial gathering Friday, January 21, 2022, from 12 noon to 2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 PM at the funeral home. In honoring Mrs. Wodzinski’s wishes, she will be cremated.
