A southern West Virginia man has been arrested for murder after allegedly shooting a man during a fight, according to a press release from the West Virginia State Police:

On December 30, 2021 at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of the West Virginia State Police responded to a reported shooting at Terry’s Café in Whitesville, West Virginia. Further investigation revealed Kevin Dickens, 53, of Rock Creek, and Jeremy Peters, 41, of Whitesville were engaged in an argument that escalated into a physical fight.

The fight continued to escalate to Kevin Dickens fatally shooting Jeremy Peters. Kevin Dickens fled the scene into Raleigh County where he was later located and taken into custody by members of the WVSP Special Response Team. Kevin Dickens has been charged with murder and is in Southwestern Regional Jail.

This investigation remains active and ongoing.
