WESTON, W.Va. – One family who faced the tragic passing of their son has chosen to honor his memory in a special way. The family of the late Hunter Osborn recently donated six iPads to Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital for patient use. The Hunter D’s Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser made the contribution possible.
“We started growing pumpkins three years ago and this is something that our son, Hunter, always wanted to do,” said Cindy Osborn, Hunter’s mother. “This year, we decided to take donations for the pumpkins so we could donate iPads in Hunter’s memory. We hope to continue growing pumpkins in his pumpkin patch so we can continue raising funds in honor of Hunter. This year we might have grown between 350 and 400 pumpkins.”
The iPads will be used for COVID-19 patients to communicate with their families when in the hospital.
“I can still remember as kids imagining, talking, and mapping out the patch and all of the activities he wanted to have out there,” Hunter’s sister, Kayla Talbert, said. “This has been our way of honoring him and we know that we will do better next year fundraising, and I can’t wait to do it again.”
“As the community hospital for Lewis County, we have always appreciated the local support and kindness of our friends and neighbors,” said Kevin Stalnaker, Chief Administrative Officer of Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. “Cindy Osborn and the Osborn family contacted us about a donation in memory of Hunter and we were incredibly appreciative. I can think of no better way to honor his memory than for the work they do through their pumpkin patch and other initiatives. We are honored to accept this gift in Hunter’s memory.”
