B-U’s Larcher earns All-State First Team Soccer honors; Andrick named Second Team All-State

TENNERTON – Buckhannon-Upshur’s Julien Larcher received one of the top honors a player can receive as he was named to the WVHSSCA All-State First Team.

Larcher, an international student-athlete originally from Martinique, was joined on the All-State Team by teammate Caden Andrick, who earned Second Team All-State honors.

Larcher, a senior, was named to the First Team as a defender.

He led the Buckhannon-Upshur defense while also scoring five goals and collecting two assists in 20 games.

“Julien making first team shows the impact he’s had on B-U soccer and across the state,” noted Buckhannon-Upshur head soccer coach Mike Donato. “He’s made a lot of sacrifices over the past year to continue his academic and athletic career here and this accolade is reflective of his hard work and commitment to the game. He was one that every coach would ask me about after most of our games this season regarding his game and his college plans.”

Andrick, also a senior, was named to the Second Team as a midfielder. He played in all 21 games and collected six goals and five assists.

“Caden’s accomplishment not only reflects his great season this year, but culminates an amazing career he’s had over his four years representing B-U soccer,” stated Donato. “He truly let his game speak for itself throughout his time here and I wish him continued success.”

The Bucs ended the year with a 7-8-6 record.

“I am beyond proud of both of these young men,” concluded Donato. “I can’t thank the coaches who voted for these guys enough for recognizing the great season they had.”

Morgantown, which beat Washington by a 2-0 score for the Class AAA title, put two players on the First Team and one on the Second Team.
