24 new cases of COVID-19, one additional death reported in West Virginia on Thursday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday that 24 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

One additional death has been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR — a 50-year-old male from Mineral County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 5 p.m. on June 11, 2020, there have been 122,691 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 2,217 total cases and 86 deaths,” according to a press release.

New cases were reported Thursday in Barbour, Berkeley, Boone, Braxton, Grant, Harrison, Jefferson, Kanawha, Logan, Marshall, Ohio, Raleigh, Taylor and Wyoming counties.

About 583 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 1,548 people have recovered and 86 have died, a mortality rate of about 5.3 percent.
