108 new COVID-19 cases reported in West Virginia on Wednesday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Wednesday that 108 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 10 a.m. on August 5, 2020, there have been 302,443 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 7,159 total cases and 124 deaths,” according to a press release.

New cases were reported Wednesday in Barbour, Berkeley, Boone, Cabell, Fayette, Grant, Greenbrier, Hampshire, Hancock, Harrison, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Marion, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mineral, Mingo, Ohio, Pendleton, Pleasants, Raleigh, Summers, Taylor, Wayne and Wyoming counties.

About 1,817 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 5,218 people have recovered and 124 have died. The daily percent positive was 2.55%.
