101-year old Braxton County woman dies from COVID-19, DHHR reports Friday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Friday that 1,257 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s an increase of 1,257 since the last report.

Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (383), Barbour (291), Lewis (163), Randolph (370) and Webster (73) counties. In Upshur County, that’s an increase of 36 active cases in the last 24 hours.

Seven additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 36-year old female from Marshall County, a 95-year old female from Harrison County, a 101-year old female from Braxton County, an 81-year old male from Harrison County, a 93-year old male from Lincoln County, a 93-year old female from Lincoln County, and an 85-year old female from Logan County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of September 3, 2021, there have been 3,443,857 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 194,863 total cases and 3,124 deaths,” according to a press release.

The daily percent positive was 11%.

A total of 915,399 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.  That’s about 51% of the state.
