WVWC’s Steve Warner to hold softball camp this Saturday

BUCKHANNON – West Virginia Wesleyan veteran head softball coach Steve Warner has announced the date for his annual softball winter camp.

The camp, for individuals from currently in fifth to 12th-grade, will be held this Saturday (Feb. 19) from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Registration will start at 9 a.m. in the Rockefeller Center lobby but early enrollment is encouraged.

The cost of the camp is $90 and includes a t-shirt and lunch. (T-shirts are only guaranteed with pre-registration).

The camp will include an introduction, stretching, hitting concepts drills, defensive infield/outfield work, base running, bunting and pitching instruction.

Campers are instructed to bring a glove, shorts/t-shirt, sweats, tennis shoes, bat/batting gloves, helmet and catching gear.

The camp is under the direction of Warner who is starting his 30th season with the Lady Bobcats.

Warner took his Lady Bobcat softball team to the 2017 World Series where they finished third in the country with a 51-10 record. Warner also won his 1000th game at the World Series.

His overall coaching record is 1095-408-1.

He will be joined by his assistant coaches Vickie Rohr and Bob Allen, Glenville State College head coach Sara Scoone along with special guests Mark Deer, head coach at Burgettstown High School, and David “Bimbo” Valllina, former pitcher for the Burgettstown Green Machine.
