WVWC’s Hall named MEC Female Runner of the Week

BRIDGEPORT – The Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week’s Cross Country Runners of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

The University of Charleston’s Iggy Chalker is the MEC Male Runner of the Week for the second time this season while West Virginia Wesleyan’s Leigha Hall was selected as the MEC Female Runner of the Week.

Chalker, a senior from Hagerstown, Md. who was this season’s first Runner of the Week honoree on Sept. 9, ran away from the field at this weekend’s Youngstown Invitational. The Golden Eagle veteran won the race in a course-record time of 25:56.7.

Hall, a senior from Green, Ohio, was the first MEC female runner to cross the finish line at the Youngstown Invitational and one of the top three NCAA Division II finishers from the Atlantic Region with a 7th-place finish out of 120 runners.
