BUCKHANNON — WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital held the West Virginia Junior Nursing Academy this summer.
Thirteen junior and senior students participated from several high schools, including Buckhannon, Grafton, Bridgeport, Notre Dame, home-schooled and out-of-state. They joined professional nurses to get a firsthand, behind-the-scenes look at the multi-faceted world of nursing.
They rotated through different areas of St. Joseph’s Hospital with various learning experiences. Students also received CPR training, basic first aid skills, learned to suture and about physical, occupational and speech therapy and other topics.
