This Saturday, North Buckhannon Riverfront Park will be the place to be for a full day of fun, food, music, and community spirit. Hosted by JAWS BBQ and event organizer Gary Connell, WV Hillbilly Days, slated for Aug. 16, promises something for everyone, and admission is completely free.
Gates open at 9 a.m. for the car show, with entry closing at noon. The fee for entering a car in the show is $20.
Food and craft vendors will be ready to go at 10 a.m., offering delicious bites and unique finds from around the area. The centerpiece of the day, a mouthwatering hog roast, will be served starting at noon and will continue until sold out. Tickets for the hog roast are $20, and each purchase automatically enters you into a drawing for the grand prize: a complete backyard carry-out picnic for 50 people from JAWS BBQ. Car show participants are also entered into the same drawing.
Live entertainment kicks off at noon with Ryan Cain performing until 3 p.m., followed by car show awards at approximately 3:30 p.m. The fun continues into the evening when the Sapp Hollow Band takes the stage around 4:30 or 5 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs and settle in for a day of great music and good company.
“I just want to make it a place where people can come together, enjoy themselves, and feel at home,” Connell said. “This Saturday’s event is all about community, and we’re ready to welcome everyone.”
Connell said the goal is to create an event that people will look forward to every year.
“We’ve got great food, great music, and great people; all we need now is for folks to come out and have a great time,” he said.
The North Buckhannon Riverfront Park is located off Cleveland Avenue on Sixth Street.
