Wrestling Bucs finish 2-1 in home quad beating Brooke and Preston

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur wrestling Bucs hosted a quad this past weekend welcoming in regional foes Brooke, Preston and University.

The Bucs went 2-1, beating Brooke 42-37 and Preston 42-25 but dropped a 61-15 decision to University.

Buckhannon-Upshur picked up the two wins despite having to forfeit two weight classes.

The Bucs had three wrestlers go a perfect 3-0 as Liam Garcia (120 pounds), Andrew McDowell (138-144 pounds) and Evan McDowell (157 pounds) were all unbeaten.

Jeremy Jett (112) and Kyzer Hernandez (174) were the other two Bucs to finish the quad with a winning record at 2-1.

For the ladies, Maya Garicia went 2-0 (132), Bri Howes was 1-0 (114) and Emma McGinnis went 0-2 (185).

The Bucs will be back in action this Friday and Saturday in the two-day Winner’s Choice Tournament at the Fairmont Senior Field House.
