West Virginia Wesleyan College to Establish John Holt ’59 Scholarship

Buckhannon, W.Va. — West Virginia Wesleyan College officials have announced the establishment of a new scholarship program in honor and memory of John Holt ’59, a long-time West Virginia basketball official and official supervisor. The late Wesleyan graduate also served as the long-time director of the Cedar Lakes Conference Center in Ripley and was a member of the United States Marine Corps.

The scholarship will provide financial assistance to Wesleyan undergraduate students from Lewis County.

“We are delighted that friends of John have decided to honor him in this way,” said Bob Skinner ’75, Vice President for Advancement. “John was well-known and beloved by basketball officials across the state as well as the many people he encountered at Cedar Lakes.”

Donations for the John Holt ’59 Scholarship can be mailed to West Virginia Wesleyan College, Advancement Office, 59 College Avenue, Buckhannon, WV 26201 or online at www.wvwc.edu/give.
