West Virginia reports slight decrease in active COVID-19 cases Tuesday, no new deaths

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Tuesday that 971 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 16 since the last report.

Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (10), Barbour (3), Lewis (19), Randolph (11) and Webster (7) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of three active cases in the last 24 hours.

No additional deaths have been attributed to the disease in the last 24 hours, according to the DHHR.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 13, 2021, there have been 3,051,586 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 164,685 total cases and 2,909 deaths,” according to a press release.

The daily percent positive was 2.37%.

A total of 862,930 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.  That’s about 48% of the state.
