West Virginia reports 413 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, nine deaths

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Wednesday that 413 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (2), Barbour (2), Lewis (3) and Randolph (8) counties.

A total of 31 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.

Nine additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 73-year old female from Harrison County, a 53-year old male from Marshall County, a 94-year old female from Berkeley County, a 65-year old male from Wood County, an 89-year old male from Marshall County, a 56-year old female from Cabell County, a 90-year old male from Wayne County, a 59-year old female from Raleigh County, and a 68-year old male from Putnam County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of April 14, 2021, there have been 2,571,122 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 147,203 total cases and 2,756 total deaths,” according to a press release.

About 7,309 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 137,138 people have recovered and 2,756 have died. The daily percent positive was 3.57%.

A total of 471,901 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
