West Virginia reports 3,358 active COVID cases, no new deaths on Friday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Friday that 3,358 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s an increase of 137 since the last report. 

Locally, reported active case totals are: Upshur (49), Barbour (18), Lewis (31), Randolph (26) and Webster (19) counties. In Upshur County, that’s an unchanged number of active cases in the last 24 hours. 

No additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR. 

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 22, 2022, there are currently 3,358 active COVID-19 cases statewide. There were no deaths reported to DHHR over the last 24 hours, and total deaths remain at 7,121 attributed to COVID-19,” according to a press release. 

About 299 residents are hospitalized with the virus, with 41 currently in intensive care and 14 on a ventilator. The daily percent positive was 9.85%. 

About 55% of the state has been vaccinated for COVID-19.
