The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Sunday that 1,066 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.
Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (5), Barbour (8), Lewis (10), Randolph (3) and Webster (1) counties.
A total of 89 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR. Sunday’s update:
- Removed two probable cases and one confirmed case from Dec. 11
- Added two probable and seven confirmed cases to Dec. 12
Two additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 69-year old male from Greenbrier County and a 66-year old male from Cabell County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of December 13, 2020, there have been 1,312,273 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 63,217 total cases and 968 deaths,” according to a press release.
About 20,657 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 41,592 people have recovered and 968 have died. The daily percent positive was 5.58%.
