Wesleyan’s Dizon named MEC Softball Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan’s Andie Dizon has been tabbed as the MEC Softball Player of the Week, while Fairmont State’s Caitlyn Kassay has been named the league’s Pitcher of the Week.

Dizon, a freshman catcher from Paso Robles, California, tallied five home runs, with 13 RBI’s as she helped West Virginia Wesleyan go 5-1 this past week with wins over Salem University, West Virginia State and the University of Charleston. She finished the week with nine total hits during 17 at-bats and finished with a .529 batting average.

Kassay, a senior from Fairview, West Virginia, picked up two wins on the mound for the Falcons this week. She pitched a total of 13.0 innings – allowing just one run and two walks, while striking out six batters. In both wins, she pitched complete games with one coming against West Liberty and the other against Wheeling.
