Wesleyan women’s soccer cruises past Fairmont State in 3-0 win

BUCKHANNON — The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcat women’s soccer team continued its hot streak with a 3-0 shutout of Fairmont State University, Wednesday, in Buckhannon.

After starting the season 1-4, and now halfway through the 2024 campaign, Wesleyan has pulled even with a 4-4-2 record.

The Bobcats got things going with a quick point by Ava Badallo who took a pair of assists by Kameron Bonneau and Kierra Hoiler to goal in the the seventh minute.

Seven minutes later, Maggie Queen continued her hot scoring presence with a goal assisted by Tessa Grisez and Ellie Pergolotti. Queen has buried a shot once in three of the last four matches.

Pergolotti tallied her second goal of the year in the 84th minute to seal the victory. The assist went to Badallo.

Though the Falcons outshot the Bobcats 9-7, Wesleyan made theirs count; every shot taken was on goal.

The Bobcat victory also showcased a spectacular performance by goalkeeper Paige Miller. Her three saves that included a penalty shot denial taken by Fairmont in the 61st minute were the statistical highlights to a dominant presence inside the 18.

Wesleyan goes on the road Sunday, Oct. 13 to Point Park University for a kickoff that starts at noon in Pittsburgh.
