Wesleyan volleyball tumbles in five sets to Concord

ATHENS – The West Virginia Wesleyan volleyball team traveled Monday night to play the Mountain Lions of Concord University. The Lady Bobcats dropped a 3-2 decision (25-19, 16-25, 31-29, 14-25 and 11-15).

Wesleyan beat Concord in some categories of the team stats with 63 kills to Concord’s 57, 58 assists to 51 assists, and 71 digs to 67 digs. The difference would be the hitting percentage with Concord at 24% and Wesleyan at 11.6%. 

Notable performers for Wesleyan include Bhrooke Axe with 16 kills and four block assists. Olivia Albrecht recorded 13 kills and three block assists. Setter Helena Kelley collected 31 assists, three serving aces, and 14 digs. Libero Alexis Moeschler led the team in digs with 22 and recorded two serving aces. Emily Dension had 10 kills, four blocks and 14 digs on the night. Lisadarelyn Grassals had 11 kills and two digs.

The volleyball team is set to play Glenville State University at home on Friday, November 8 at 7 p.m.
