Vicky Jean Detamore Reed

Vicky Jean Detamore Reed, 64, of the Alton community, departed this life on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 1:31 AM after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by family.

She was born on October 14, 1959, in Alton, a daughter of the late Lawrence “Punk” and Wilda Sandy Detamore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Jim, Dave and Ronald Detamore and many of her cats who were waiting to be reunited with her at the Rainbow Bridge.

She is survived by two sisters: Jan Cutright and husband Scott and Virginia Detamore both of Alton; two brothers: Bub and wife Gail Detamore of Buckhannon and Donald Detamore of Alton; several nieces, nephews, cousins and her precious cats: Yogi, Joe, Zoe Zoe, Mazie, Coalminer, Fred, Winnie, Little Bit, Einstein and Jackie.

Vicky spent many years working at the sewing factory and then at Walmart, where she became manager and enjoyed working with the customers. She loved her cats, tending to her little garden, crocheting, and watching and feeding the deer and birds. She will be missed by many, including all God’s creatures, big and small.

Vicky will be cremated and laid to rest with her cats, where she wanted to be. Private family services will be held at a later date.
