WEBSTER SPRINGS, W.Va. — Vandalia Health Webster Memorial Hospital recognizes cardiac rehabilitation nurse Veronica Arnold, RN, as the latest recipient of The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, an international recognition that honors nurses for the compassionate and skillful care they provide to patients and families every day.
Arnold was nominated by a colleague who praised her exceptional teamwork, clinical expertise and unwavering willingness to support both patients and colleagues.
“Veronica is always very friendly with all the patients and staff,” the nomination stated. “She’s very knowledgeable with all aspects of her job and the computer system. She will always take the time to help her co-workers out … It’s a breath of fresh air to have someone like her always willing to help you out no matter what.”
The DAISY Award recognizes nurses who consistently demonstrate excellence through clinical expertise, compassionate care and a commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients, families and fellow caregivers.
“Veronica’s compassion, professionalism and willingness to help others make her an invaluable member of our team,” said Bill Dempsey, chief administrative officer of Vandalia Health Webster Memorial Hospital. “She consistently goes above and beyond to support her patients and her colleagues, and this recognition is a testament to the positive impact she has on everyone around her. We are proud to celebrate Veronica as our latest DAISY Award recipient.”
Established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses recognizes the compassionate care and clinical excellence nurses provide every day. Barnes died in 1999 at the age of 33 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care he and his family received from nurses while he was hospitalized inspired the creation of The DAISY Foundation to thank and honor nurses around the world.
Vandalia Health Webster Memorial Hospital encourages patients, families and colleagues to nominate nurses who make a lasting difference through their exceptional care and compassion.
