WESTON, W.Va. (October 5, 2026) – Vandalia Health Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital will host several community events throughout October to promote breast health as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The hospital and the Lewis County CEOS clubs will host the 32nd annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Weston. Sarah Weaver, a nurse practitioner with Mountaineer Healthcare for Women, will be the clinical presenter. The luncheon is open to the public. To reserve a seat, call the WVU Extension Service at 304-269-4660 by Oct. 7.
On Saturday, Oct. 24, the hospital will host a Color Run at Louis Bennett Airfield at WVU Jackson’s Mill. Participants will pass through stations where they will be covered in brightly colored powder. Registration costs $25 in advance or $30 on race day and is available through RunSignup.com.
Hospital staff will also share breast health information at a “Pink Out” during the Lewis County High School home football game vs. Berkeley Springs on Friday, Oct. 30. Pink ribbons displayed throughout Weston and Jane Lew will serve as reminders of the importance of breast cancer screening.
“Breast cancer screening rates in Lewis County are lower than we would like to see,” said Lisa Songer, chief administrative officer of Vandalia Health Mon Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. “By bringing people together for these events, we hope to encourage conversations about breast health and help more women take the next step toward screening. We’re grateful to the local organizations helping us bring this message to communities across Lewis County.”
For more information about the events, call 304-517-8612.
