Van “Ed” Reger

Van “Ed” Reger, 83, of Buckhannon, W.Va. died Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at his home.

He was born July 21, 1938, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Kyle M. and Gladys Fern Light Reger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Vanessa Reger.

He is survived by two sons, Charles Martin Reger and wife Patti Lewis of Buckhannon and Bryan Wayne Reger and wife Carla Lantz of Peel Tree, W.Va.; one daughter, Tricia Jane Ware of Buckhannon; one grandson, Brandon Ware of Hackers Creek, W.Va.; four granddaughters, Hannah Reger of Hackers Creek, Bryanna Williams and husband Tyler of Peel Tree, Alyssa Hollen and husband Brian of Buckhannon and Kylie Jane Ware of Buckhannon; two brothers, Milford Reger of Adrian, W.Va. and David Reger and wife Beverly of Buckhannon; three sisters, Sharon Gump of Barrickville, W.Va.; Luretta Rhinehart of Elkins, W.Va. and Martha Bonner and husband Danny of Pittsburg, Pa.; several nieces and nephews and his caregiver, Brenda Woodson of Sellbysville, W.Va.

Mr. Reger served in the U. S. Army and was a former Scout Master for Troop 108. He was a member of and served as a lay pastor for the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. After 30+ years of service, Ed retired from Corhart Refactories where he worked as a foreman and as a shipping and receiving clerk.

He was also a charter member of the Upshur County EMS and loved hunting, fishing, farming and going to church.

Friends will be received Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will perform military honors at the graveside.
