Upshur County Youth Baseball & Softball spring season canceled

Dear Upshur County Baseball & Softball Families,

As the coronavirus pandemic is creating unpredictability statewide with its duration and public health regulations and restrictions across the state, Upshur County Youth Baseball & Softball is facing an improbable situation. After careful consideration of the health and safety of our youth, their families and our fans, it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to forgo any spring baseball/softball this year.

The decision to forgo was extremely difficult but deemed necessary; we feel at this time it is the best decision for our league. While it is distressing to think of all our youth that are going to be disappointed to learn about our decision, it would be a much, much greater tragedy if just one of our youth were to fall ill during our season.

With great disappointment comes great anticipation, and we will be looking to the fall to resume organized baseball/softball activity. Upshur County Youth Baseball & Softball remains committed to our youth and their families. The Board will be working in the next several weeks, while following all necessary health guidelines, to prepare and maintain our fields at our facility for when we can get back on the field of play.

We will be offering full refunds to anyone that wishes to receive one. There will be an option to ‘roll over’ your paid spring registration to the fall season if you would wish to do so. The process for requesting a refund or roll-over will be as follows:

Email Request to: UCYBSL20@gmail.com by June 15 requesting a refund or roll-over and please include:

  • Player(s) Name
  • If you paid by Cash or Check
  • Amount Paid
  • Paying Parent/Guardian Name and Address

*We will have one in-person refund session in the parking lot at our facility. Date and time to be determined, it will be announced on the Leagues Facebook Page at least one week in advance.

Please understand that we are a league of approximately 250 players, and we will work to get refunds out as soon as possible. Meanwhile, your patience and cooperation is appreciated in advance.

Finally, and most importantly, a message to our players: Please stay active, get outside to throw and catch with mom, dad, brother, sister or a neighbor. We want you to know we miss you and we are looking forward to seeing you all back on the field!
