Upshur County earns StormReady designation

BUCKHANNON — Officials from the National Weather Service will officially declare Upshur County as a StormReady County at a brief ceremony during the January 5 County Commission meeting.

The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. at the Upshur County Courthouse Annex, Room 301, 38 W. Main Street in Buckhannon.

StormReady communities are better prepared to save lives from the onslaught of severe weather through advanced planning, education and awareness. No community is stormproof, but StormReady can help communities save lives. Upshur County is the 18th county in the state of West Virginia to earn the StormReady designation.
