Upshur County Board of Education meeting canceled

BUCKHANNON — All schools in Upshur County will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025.

Additionally, the Upshur County Board of Education meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Buckhannon-Upshur High School is canceled.

It will be rescheduled for a later time in January, according to Upshur County Schools Superintendent Christy Miller.

Earlier Monday morning, the West Virginia Department of Education announced it had canceled the State Board of Education’s monthly meeting, set for Jan. 8.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the West Virginia Board of Education (WVBE) will cancel its monthly meeting on Jan. 8, 2025, due to inclement weather,” WVBE Communications Manager Christy Day wrote in a media advisory. “The next regularly scheduled WVBE meeting will be on Feb. 12, 2025, at 10 a.m. in Building 6, Suite 600, 1900 Kanawha Boulevard, East, Charleston, West Virginia.”
