MORGANTOWN –The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Bucs inexplicitly had the score run up on them by the University Hawks and their coaching staff Friday night in a 99-27 setback.
The Bucs trailed by a 35-4 score after one quarter and the Hawks continued to pour it on the final three quarters for the 72-point win.
Brody McDaniels had all four points for B-U in the first quarter.
McDaniels and Xavier Robinette each knocked down a trey and Damion White added a free throw for the Bucs in the second quarter.
The Bucs entered the half down 55-11.
McDaniels, Kadyn Baisden and Riel Figueroa each had a basket for the Bucs in the third quarter as B-U trailed 76-17 going into the final eight minutes.
Jacob Frye, McDaniels and Robinette each had a three-pointer for Buckhannon-Upshur and White added a free throw in the fourth quarter.
Kaleil Lewis had 24 points to lead University.
McDaniels paced Buckhannon-Upshur with 12 points.
The loss dropped the Bucs to 3-5 on the year.
They were slated to play Grafton Saturday night. They will be back in action Wednesday at Philip Barbour for a 5:45 p.m. tip.
