Two new COVID-19 cases reported in Upshur County on Monday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 352 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State, including two in Upshur County.

New cases were also reported in Lewis (5), Barbour (1), Randolph (2) and Webster (2) counties on Monday.

One additional death has been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 71-year old female from Grant County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 10 a.m., November 2, 2020, there have been 792,475 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 25,235 total cases and 458 deaths,” according to a press release.

Upshur County fell to gold on the county alert map, with two new confirmed cases being added to Nov. 1. A total of 48 cases are active locally.

Free testing events are scheduled throughout Upshur County all week.

New cases were reported Monday in Barbour, Berkeley. Boone, Braxton, Brooke, Cabell, Fayette, Grant, Hampshire, Hancock, Hardy, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Marion, Marshall, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mineral, Mingo, Monongalia, Monroe, Morgan, Nicholas, Ohio, Pleasants, Preston, Putnam, Raleigh, Randolph, Ritchie, Summers, Taylor, Tyler, Upshur, Wayne, Webster, Wetzel, Wood and Wyoming counties.

About 5,557 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 19,220 people have recovered and 458 have died. The daily percent positive was 4.19%.
