Twelve Fred Eberle students win gold at 2023 SkillsUSA state competition, move on to national competition

FAIRMONT – Fred Eberle Technical Center students put their skills to the test at the 2023 SkillsUSA West Virginia State Leadership & Skills Conference at Fairmont State University during a weekend competition.

According to the SkillsUSA WV website, more than 800 students from technical centers across the state gathered at FSU to compete in 65 different trade, leadership and technical industries for gold placing in the state competition. Gold medal winners then move on to the SkillsUSA National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia held June 19-23, 2023.

“I know that the competitors that I talked to today are the future of the state of West Virginia,” said Dr. Dianne Phillips, Interim President at Fairmont State University during the closing ceremony. “I’m looking at the future professionals that will drive tomorrow’s manufacturing, transportation, construction, hospitality, human services industries, automotive industries among very many others. West Virginia is packed with talent and this year’s SkillsUSA event is absolutely proof of that.”

The 12 gold medal winners from Fred W. Eberle Technical Center in Buckhannon will move on to the SkillsUSA National Conference held June 19-23, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia.
