Three-way tie for first after week one action in CEC Summer Basketball League

TENNERTON – The CEC Upshur County Summer Basketball League wrapped up its first week of action last Thursday and Friday with four games played on the court.

In Thursday’s first game, Sam’s Pizza downed Problem Solver’s Consultants by a 61-36 score with Malaki Williams leading the way for Sam’s Pizza with 22 points while Harrison Walker led Problem Solver’s Consultants with 15 points.

In the second game Thursday, Problem Solver’s Consultants rebounded with a 57-51 win over Jenkins Automotive with Brendan Daugherty scoring a team-high 20 points for Problem Solver’s Consultants while Connor Gower had a game-high 21 points for Jenkins Automotive.

Thursday’s final game saw Sam’s Pizza win again as they took a 57-41 decision from Jenkins Automotive as Ian Strader scored 15 points for Sam’s Pizza in the win and Austin Upton had 15 to pace Jenkins Automotive.

On Friday, TKS Contracting didn’t have enough players and had to forfeit games to CEC and On Point Athletics.

The lone game played on Friday was CEC downing On Point Athletics by a 63-51 score, as Praise Chukwudozie scored 16 to lead CEC while Landon Dillard tallied 16 points to lead On Point Athletics.

The league was slated to kickoff week two on Monday with a trio of games.
