Three vehicles involved in wreck at Route 33 / Kesling Mill intersection

No serious injuries were reported following a wreck at the Kesling Mill and Route 33 intersection involving three vehicles Wednesday afternoon.

The wreck occurred at about 4:30 p.m. One car suffered heavy front-end damage, while the other two vehicles were damaged on their sides.

Eugene Baughman, 73, of Ellamore was driving a gold 2001 Buick Century west on Route 33, towards Buckhannon, when he stopped to turn left onto the Kesling Mill Crossover, according to the wreck report at the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department.

As he crossed the eastbound lanes of traffic, Baughman pulled in front of Murlin Howell, 63, of Valley Bend, who was driving a blue 2013 Toyota Corolla toward Elkins. The two cars collided, and Baughman’s vehicle spun and hit Danielle Evans, 22, of Buckhannon, who was stopped at a stop sign in a silver 2009 Toyota Rav 4.

Baughman said he could not see the car heading east due to a utility truck that was in the turning lane, waiting to turn onto Kesling Mill Road.

All three drivers refused medical transport, according to the report, although both Howell and Evans were listed as having a non-incapacitating injury.

Sgt. Dewaine Linger with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department is the investigating officer.
