BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. We will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur each week that has had an exemplary week on the baseball or softball diamond, the tennis courts, the track and field or the lacrosse field.
Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the weeks of March 28-April 10 are Shawn Blandino and Miranda Greene.
Blandino is a junior on the Buckhannon-Upshur track and field team. He won four events at a home meet last Tuesday and one at the Capitol City Classic in Charleston on Saturday.
Blandino took first in two individual events, the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes, and was part of two relay teams, the 4×100-meter relay and the 4×400-meter relay, that were victorious on Tuesday.
Then, on Saturday in a loaded 22-team event in the Capitol Classic, he was part of the first-place 4×400-meter relay team and he finished second individually in the 400-meter dash and fourth in the 200-meter dash.
Greene is a senior on the Buckhannon-Upshur lacrosse team. She played a historic game in a 17-7 road win at Morgantown on March 29 when she scored the 200th goal of her career.
During a busy seven-game stretch over the last 12 days, Greene tallied 33 goals in six games. She has been a driving force in leading the Lady Bucs to a perfect 10-0 record thus far.
Congratulations to Blandino and Greene as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
