BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week we will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur that has had an exemplary week on the basketball court, the swimming pool or the wrestling mat.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of Feb. 6 – Feb. 12 are Nathaniel Tyson, Maya Garcia and Abbie Radabaugh.

Tyson is a senior on the Buccaneer wrestling team. He won the 106-pound division for the Bucs in the Big 10 Conference Championship over the weekend at Philip Barbour High School. Tyson went 2-0 pinning Preston’s Robbie Lowe in the semifinals in 56 seconds and in the title match, he earned a 6-4 decision over Fairmont Senior’s Bryce Nichols.

It was impossible to pick between Garcia and Radabaugh so we selected both of them.

As freshmen, they both finished runner-up in the West Virginia Girls State Wrestling Championships this past weekend. Garcia had a bye into the semi-finals, where she beat Zoee Meadows of Nicholas County before falling against No. 1 Ciara Riner of Spring Valley in the finals. Radabaugh also had a bye to the semi-finals where she defeated Aurora Amos of Paden City. She dropped her match in the finals to Aubrey Moore of Brooke.

Congratulations to Tyson, Garcia and Radabaugh as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
