Thelma Louella Humphrey

Thelma Louella Humphrey, 84, of Rock Cave, WV died on Monday, March 21, 2022, at her residence on Rock Cave Road.  

She was born on May 4, 1937, in Kanawha Head, WV, a daughter of the late Sherman and Charity Rebecca Riley.  On July 7, 1973, she was united in marriage to Maynard Humphrey who survives.  Also, surviving is one daughter: Elizabeth Haymond and husband Marshell of Rock Cave, WV; one brother: Estal Riley of Buckhannon, WV; one sister: Ada Raines of Camden, WV;  one grandchild: David Ankrom and wife Ann of Gordonsville, VA;  three step-grandchildren: Ian Haymond and wife Kayla of Rock Cave, Jacob Haymond and wife Danielle of Greenup, KY, and Zane Haymond and significant other Alex Niemier of Buckhannon, WV; six great-grandchildren: Joshua Ankrom, Dylan Ankrom, Haley Ankrom, Andrew Ankrom, Keegan and Eliza Haymond; and several nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four sisters: Jessie Haymond, Bessie Anderson, Mary Moore, and Mildred Norman; and three brothers: Roy, Hoy (Alfred), and Melvin Riley.

Thelma enjoyed gardening especially flowers and vegetables, baking and cooking, reading her Bible and devotionals daily and loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

The family will receive friends at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 25, 2022, from 12 pm-1 pm- the funeral hour, with Pastor Michael Wamsley officiating.  Interment will follow at Bennett Cemetery in Kanawha Head.
