The Grinch to descend Mount Crumpit for two scheduled appearances at Sweet-A-Licious in December

BUCKHANNON – ‘Who’ knew?

The Grinch who tried to steal Christmas from Cindy Lou Who and her town will venture down from the ragged peak of Mount Crumpit to make two scheduled appearances at Sweet-A-Licious in December.

Sweet-A-Licious is now selling tickets so kids can meet the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who for $15 each on Saturday, Dec. 5 or Saturday, Dec. 12. Tickets may be purchased on the ice cream and specialty sweets shop’s Facebook page.

The owner of Sweet-A-Licious Michelle Jack said this will be the second year they have brought the Grinch to Buckhannon, but it will be a little different this time around.

The Grinch is slated to make two appearances at Sweet-A-Licious on Dec. 5 and Dec. 12.

“This year is going to be quite different; typically, the kids come in and they run around and get crazy with the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who, but this year they’re going to come in and they’re going to be placed either at a single table by themselves, or two children at a table and one parent is allowed to join them,” Jack said.

Each participant will get to participate in a Grinch craft, enjoy Grinch-themed snacks – such as Grinch cupcakes from Bonnie Bell, green popcorn and other ice cream treats. Each kid with a ticket is entitled to a photo and short visit with the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who.

“When each child comes, they are going to get a green face mask, which they have to put on before they come in, and we will required the face mask to be work the whole time during the event,” Jack said. “We have a great Grinch costume and then my daughter dresses up as Cindy Lou Who and she does the great hair and everything. The Grinch, of course, has a full mask and Cindy Lou Who will wear a special mask this year for herself.”

Tickets are on sale for the event now, but they will stop selling tickets for Dec. 5 on Dec. 1 and will stop selling tickets for Dec. 12 on Dec. 8.

“So much has been taken away from everybody this year, and if you can try to do something safely you should still do it,” Jack said. “I think it’s just a difficult time for everybody right now, so a lot of people are sad and just tired of this, so we’re trying to be as safe as we can but still provide something.”

The Grinch and Cindy Lou Who may also make an appearance the weekend before Christmas by greeting people outside of Sweet-A-Licious’s storefront.

“We’re also probably going to do one evening where we have the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who at the shop, sitting outside for families who can’t pay, so they could swing by and they might give out ice cream that day for kids who want to just do a drive by,” Jack said. “That will probably be the weekend before Christmas.”

Jack said her shop will also feature seasonal ice cream flavors starting next week including peppermint bark moose tracks, peppermint stick and eggnog.
