Tennis ‘Cats fall to Fairmont State in MEC Tournament

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Wesleyan men’s tennis team fell to the No. 2 seeded Fairmont State Falcons Saturday evening 4-1 in the Mountain East Conference Tournament semifinals in Charleston.

Doubles Play
Kihiro Karasawa and Emanuel Mallya were the only Bobcat duo to take a doubles match as Fairmont State took the first and third match to start off in front.

Singles Play
Karasawa then began singles play with a win versus Elia Barozzi 6-2 and 6-5. Mallya was victorious as well but Fairmont State would win the next three singles matches to take the advantage. Jonathan Lindstrand won the final singles match 6-3 and 6-3, however it wouldn’t be enough as Fairmont State won 4-1 to advance to the MEC Championship.
