MEC tennis postseason brackets are set, with Charleston earning the No. 1 seed on both the men’s and women’s sides after unbeaten league runs. West Virginia Wesleyan, seeded No. 3, faces No. 2 Fairmont State in Saturday semifinals, with championships Sunday, May 3.
West Virginia Wesleyan was swept by West Virginia State in Sunday’s MEC doubleheader, falling 11-0 in five innings in the opener before a tighter 4-2 loss in game two. The Lady Bobcats rallied to tie the nightcap, but a two-run Olivia Bell homer proved the difference.
West Virginia Wesleyan’s women rallied from early setbacks to edge West Virginia State 4-3 in their season finale, finishing 15-6. The Bobcat men cruised to a 7-0 shutout—State’s first of the season—and now await their 14-7 MEC Tournament seeding.
