Stanley James Lane

Stanley James Lane, 74, of Buckhannon, the Glady Fork community, died Thursday, February 11, 2021, at his home.

He was born on April 28, 1946, at Bull Run, Upshur County, a son of the late Everett J. and Leona Harlow Lane.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Nadine Baudin Lane in 2007; a stillborn brother William Lane; one sister Louise June Gould; and two brothers:  Leon “Rocky/Pud” Lane and Joseph “Joe” Lane.

He is survived by two daughters:  Theresa and husband Bryan Samples of Buckhannon and Michele and husband Doug Estep of Fairmont; two sons:  Stanley J. “Jimmy” Lane and Ivy J. Lane, both of Buckhannon; one stepson Jeremy Lachney of Richmond, VA; and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Lane was a 1964 graduate of Southeast High School in Ravenna, OH, and was a veteran of the US Navy.  He spent his career as a Union Carpenter and Foreman, having worked in various states on a wide range of projects including the construction of dams and bridges.  He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed making furniture for his children and grandchildren.  Much of his spare time was devoted to farming, gardening, and hunting — especially turkey hunting, and he was a member of the Upshur County Farmers Market and the NRA.

In accordance with the wishes of the deceased, the body will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Online condolences may be extended to the Lane family at www.heavnerandcutright.com. The Lane family entrusted the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel & Cremation Service with the arrangements.
