St. Joseph’s Hospital to hold blood screenings with new Rotary club in October

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – St. Joseph’s Hospital will hold the fall blood screening with proceeds benefiting the community via the newly forming Rotary Club of Buckhannon Upshur. 

The screenings will be held on Saturday, October 5 and Saturday, October 12 from 6:30 am to 10 a.m. at the Buckhannon Upshur Middle School and at the Community Care Clinic in Rock Cave.

Basic blood profile tests will be offered at $35; with additional testing for thyroid for $5, hemoglobin A1C for $15, colon cancer screening for $5 and prostate testing for $20.  A new additional test for the Hepatitis C antibody will be offered for $20.

Flu shots will also be offered at the Buckhannon Upshur Middle School.  The shots are free to those with a Medicare card; all others are $32. The vaccine given will be a quadrivalent vaccine which guards against four strains of flu: two Type A strains and two type B strains.
