TENNERTON – With just five rostered players available to compete, the Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Bucs struggled with the John Marshall Monarchs in a 49-17 setback Saturday evening.
The Lady Bucs failed to score in the first quarter and trailed by a 25-0 count.
Buckhannon-Upshur rebounded to take the second quarter by an 8-7 margin with Makenzie Egress scoring four points and Martina Moto and Kylie Hull two each.
That put the Lady Bucs down 32-8 at the intermission.
B-U managed just one field goal in the third quarter, a three-pointer from Gracie Gerwig and trailed going into the fourth quarter by a 41-11 score.
The final quarter went to John Marshall by an 8-6 count as Egress had all six points for the Lady Bucs.
Nora Shock led John Marshall with 12 points while Kalyn Reese put in 10 points.
Egress paced Buckhannon-Upshur with 10 points.
The loss dropped the Lady Bucs to 0-12 on the season.
The Lady Bucs will be back in action Tuesday at Lewis County.
The contest will start at 5:45 p.m.
