Shirley A. Hudak

Shirley A. Hudak, age 77, of Buckhannon, WV, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving caregiver, friends, family and West Virginia Hospice. From the onset of her illness, she had wished to stay at home and those wishes were honored by her caregiver, Darl Boyles.

Shirley was born, May 9, 1945, in Pickens, WV, a daughter of the late John C. and Retha Williams Waugh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son John Paul Hudak and best friend, Betty Lou Phillips. She is survived by her caregiver and friend, Darl Boyles of French Creek, WV; six close friends, Calvin Teets of Hampton, WV, Brenda Rowan and fiancé Chris of French Creek, Delbert Boyles and family of Buckhannon, Darl B. Boyles of French Creek, Toby L. Boyles of French Creek and Emma L. Boyles of French Creek; seven cousins, Roger Williams of Mt. Carmel, WV, John Williams of Buckhannon, Sherry Boyer and husband Ink of Weston, WV, Shelia Dowell of Buckhannon, Connie Riggleman of Buckhannon, Donald Greenway of Buckhannon and Teresa “Sissy” Beale and husband of Buckhannon.

Ms. Hudak was a baker and a protestant by faith. She enjoyed being outdoors – hunting, fishing, and camping and loved spending time with her friends who she thought of as family.

Friends will be received Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 4  PM to 9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Ms. Hudak will lie-in-state at the funeral home Friday, December 16, 2022, from 8:30 AM to 12 PM (noon), a funeral service will follow at 12 PM (noon) with Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Dale Church Cemetery in Selbyville, WV.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Virginia Hospice. For more information regarding donations, please contact the funeral home.
