CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council (IJDC) announced funding for water and sewer line improvements and service extensions in towns and public service districts around the state at its most recent meeting on May 5.
The council approved the following water projects:
Greater Harrison County PSD – The council approved a $799,000 grant for the Stevens Run extension of service to 31 customers. The project is estimated to cost $799,000.
City of Wellsburg – The council approved a $600,000 grant to replace a water line and upgrade a water plant serving 1,800 customers. The project is estimated to cost $7.189 million.
Walton PSD – The council approved a $55,100 grant to improve a water system serving 825 customers. The funding will be added to an existing IJDC grant of $444,900 and a $544,900 loan. The project is estimated to cost $1.044 million.
The council also approved the following sewer projects:
Town of Paw Paw – The council approved a $151,130 design loan (1 percent/40 years) to improve a sewer system serving 233 customers. The project is estimated to cost $1.462 million.
Kanawha PSD – The council approved a $1 million grant and a $4.9 million loan for the Lens Creek phase 1 sewer line extension serving 2,603 customers and 281 new customers. The project is estimated to cost $10.2 million.
Bureau for Public Health Drinking Water Treatment Revolving Fund – The council approved $2.2 million in state matching funds to secure $11 million from the federal government to be used for water system projects.
Department of Environmental Protection Clean Water State Revolving Fund – The council approved $4.953 million in state matching funds to secure $24.769 million from the federal government to be used for wastewater system projects.
The WV IJDC was created by the WV Legislature in 1994 to serve as a funding clearinghouse for water and wastewater projects around the state. Gov. Jim Justice serves as council chairman, with Deputy Chief of Staff Ann Urling serving as his designate.
