Ruby Geraldene Humphrey Reed

Ruby Geraldene Humphrey Reed, 72, of Buckhannon, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on January 6, 2024.

She was born May 5, 1951, in Upshur County, a daughter of Mary Jane Humphrey Cogar. Ruby was happily married to her loving husband Gary Lee Reed of 53 glorious years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter Kimberly Reed Eddy and husband Roy Eddy Jr. of Maidsville; five grandchildren: Kayla and Shea Wimer of Walkersville, Danielle and Trevor Mowery of Weston, Joshua and Tosha Cavins of Weston, Brandon Gaines and fiancé Shyla of Weston, and Amber Gaines and fiancé Colyn of Weston; and ten great grandchildren: Landon, Kynlee, Sawyer, Cameron, Bentley Chase, Paisleigh, Ayden, Gabriel, Serenity, and Bentley. She was also survived by four brothers: Ernie and Kim Cogar of French Creek, Charles and Donna Cogar of Selbyville, Donald Cogar of French Creek, and Harold Cogar of Charleston; three sisters: Opal Woodson of Selbyville, Lois Cogar of Selbyville, and Connie Cogar of Tennerton.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Priscilla Dawn Reed Gaines; her mother Mary Jane Humphrey Cogar; five brothers: Gerald Humphrey, James Humphrey, Dennis Cogar, Herbert Cogar, and Stanley Cogar; and two sisters Lila Cogar and Anita Sayre Cutright.

Ruby was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, family, and playing bingo. She loved her family and will be loved and sadly missed forever.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 11 AM – 1 PM—the funeral hour, with Pastor Chad Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Dale cemetery.
