Rose Mary (Pickens) Harper

Rose Mary (Pickens) Harper, age 80, of Buckhannon, WV passed away Monday, May 8, 2023, at her home in Shepherdstown, WV.

She was born April 17, 1943, in Webster County, WV, a daughter of the late James and Orpha Knight Pickens. On November 9, 1963, she married Ordith Rex Harper who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, James “Jimmy” Harper.

She is survived by her daughter, Dena Andrew and husband Adam of Shepherdstown; four grandsons, Chris Andrew and wife Heather of Summit Point, WV, James Shelton Harper-Bourne, Eric Harper-Bourne and Sam Harper-Bourne all of Morgantown, WV; two great-granddaughters, Taliyah and Finley Andrew both of Summit Point and three foster granddaughters, Macy, Carter and Vanessa Bourne all of Morgantown.

Rosie was a senior companion and homemaker for Companion Care. She loved working with the elderly. When she was in better health, she loved fishing and spending time with family and friends playing bingo and dominos. Her favorite past time was doing search word puzzles, working a jigsaw puzzle and embroidery. She had several friends in Elkins and Buckhannon. Before she failed in her health, she attended the Church of God and was a member of Faith Tabernacle.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Jefferson Memorial, Berkley Medical and Panhandle Home Health for the wonderful care she received. Also, her caregiver Mary Licodo and a very special friend and neighbor, Gladys Osborne, who was only a phone call away any hour of the day or night.

Friends will be received Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 10 AM to 12 PM (noon) at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12 PM (noon) at the funeral home with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Cemetery in Buckhannon.
