Ronald Ray Hinzman, age 73, of Excelsior, died Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at the home of his sister, where he had resided for the past several months. 

He was born in Vegan, WV, on August 9, 1949, a son of the late Sarah Ann Landis Hinzman.  In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by two sisters:  Irene Yokum and Doris Orsburn; and three brothers:  Franklin Hinzman, Stephen Carl Hinzman, and an infant brother.  He is survived by two sisters:  Wilda Bennett of Buckhannon and Leona Champ of Burghill, OH; one brother Arnold Hinzman of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.

Ron was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, Class of 1972.  He enjoyed fishing and watching sports, especially B-U and WVU. He was an avid walker and could often be seen walking through Buckhannon to and from his job at Walmart.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel.  At 1:00 PM, the funeral procession will depart for the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Vegan, where graveside services and interment will be held.
