Robert Eugene Burke, age 92, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, August 6, 2026, at his home. He was born on September 14, 1933, in Gilmer County, WV, a son of the late Charles and Audrey Wilson Burke.
On December 22, 1956, he married Betty Jean Smith, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Randall Burke and wife Brenda; two daughters, Pam Koon and Debbie Zickefoose and husband Brian; ten grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael Lynn Burke, and two infant brothers, Orvis and Oral Burke.
Mr. Burke graduated from Norman Town in 1952 and from WV Business College in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953–1955 and was stationed in Austria. Following his term of service, he worked at Mon-Power and had his own dozer business.
In his free time, he loved to farm, raise Border Collies, hunt, and fish. Mr. Burke was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Gilmer County.
Friends will be received Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 4–8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home, with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will provide military honors at the gravesite.
