Robert D. “Bob” Whitescarver

Robert D. “Bob” Whitescarver passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024, at his home.

He was born February 20, 1934, in Buckhannon, WV., a son of the late J. F. Deck and Catherine Kiddy Whitescarver. Bob graduated from Buckhannon Upshur High School, class of 1952, and WV Wesleyan College, class of 1956. He played basketball for both schools.

In June of 1954 he married Patty Hall, his high school sweetheart. He worked for Union Carbide Corp. for 30 years.  He was an Eagle Scout and often spoke of attending the 7th World Scout Jamboree in Bad Ischl, Austria the summer of 1951. He was a lifelong golfer and loved golfing with his buddies in Gastonia, NC.

He is survived by Patty Hall Whitescarver his wife of 69 years; son Stephen Whitescarver (Crystal); daughter Diana Whitescarver Sowers; grandchildren Catherine Whitescarver Scott (Jason); Michael Whitescarver; Kyle Sowers (Brooke); brother David Whitescarver (Ruth); sister Karen Westfall (David) in addition to cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Bob is preceded in death by his son-in-law Richard E. Sowers, Jr.
